It’s Friday night and the GF has Judge Judy on the TV….and I am perfectly ok with that.

Yup its official..I lost my marbles. I joined the FISD ( First Imperial Stormtrooper Detachment ) in the hope of learning how to craft my perfect Stormtrooper armor…and go troopin’.
Boat cruise this weekend, pretty much putting around the river for 3 hours. Its generally a good time, but over the years I have noticed its actually a contest to see how much over-priced alcohol you can drink under 3 hours…then stagger out to your car to drive home. …or 2 chicks usually get into fisti-cuffs ( yes I said fisti-cuffs) on the dock…or my personal favourite..the quiet dude who just stands there on the dock not saying anything till he projectile vomits onto some of the funsters de-boating…resulting in someone getting puched in the forehead..GOOD TIMES!
Its a boat cruise to raise money for an ailing friend, one cause I willingly support. And just for the record, I will be taking a cab as I am not one of the above assholes.

So Last week I bought a shell of a helmet for a Stormtrooper of Ebay. Even though it looks cool, I have been informed its a recast from someone else’s real helmet…boo. No worries, I will do this one up proper, and use for a conversation piecce in my den or even at the office. I am prgressing with my own home-made Boba Fett helmet from plans i came across on the www. If the first part turns out ok, I will post some pics eventually (you know me).
Fan Expo was a hoot. Me and friend headed up the big TO or Big Smoke as he refers to it, to hit Fan Expo. Yup you heard it here first…the damn lines at 9 am were so long we did the unthinkable….. we butted in line. Shut up. I didnt drive 3 hours to stand in line all day..interesting story though…a friend saw on the news there was almost a nerd riot later that day…. Anyway, I managed to pick up Zombie Dice as planned, caught a couple of pics of some celebs…and managed to grab one with Natasha Eloi from Space (Canada’s version of SyFy channel) she sure smelled nice. Yes I paid $8.25 for a hot dog on a stale bun and a bottle of water..it was crap and ended up throwing it away. Chewbacca dude was there, still all tall and stuff. Anyway as I am at work..only 1 pic for now as I left my camera cable at home.

Thats right folks! Karl Urban is gonna be Judge Dredd in a new movie coming to a theatre near you, likely the end of next year. The guy that did an awesome Bones McCoy in the latest Star Trek flick…it going to bring kick-ass to an already kick-ass Judge Dredd. I am probably the only one that still likes the Stallone Judge Dredd from 1995. But hey, it has Dianne Lane as Judge Hershey…running around in black spandex looking all yummy. The director says he wants
“The main thing about Dredd is that it’s a fantastic comic that was completely messed up 20 years ago. Our idea is to make a very hard, R-rated, gritty, realistic movie of Dredd in Megacity, so we’ve got to get the tone right. He’s not going to take off his helmet. His bike is going to feel real. He’s going to hit people and it’s going to feel real.”

This past weekend Mr Lucas spoke from Star Wars Celebration V that was going on, and revealed next fall 2011 is the release date for Star Wars on bluray….unfortunately it will the 1997 versions of the original trilogy..not the originals

Mr. Lucas said that to release the original versions of these films on Blu-ray was “kind of an oxymoron because the quality of the original is not very good.”
“You have to go through and do a whole restoration on it, and you have to do that digitally,” he added. “It’s a very, very expensive process to do it. So when we did the transfer to digital, we only transferred really the upgraded version.”

Expensive? WTF. His Star Wars movies have been a hit for the last 35 years, with tons of licensed products generating cash…so he must be broke. Pfffft.
Damn. The tons of extras had better be a ton of extras, as it looks for the moment that the release will be packaged with all 6 films with no seperate titles available….even the purists that say they are not buying this version cause Han didnt shoot first in the 1997 restored films…… will get in line the day this package is released.

I have come to view this whole “lets paint some rooms in the house” as a tool to keep me from fun stuff I usually do. On the plus side, I got my programme for Fan Expo in the mail today, and I am getting pumped to go at the end of the month.

ixnay on the hombre

I was reading an interesting post from Stephen Hawking on the future of the human race at bigthink.com.. and its too bad I was born too soon.

it’s time to free ourselves from Mother Earth. “I believe that the long-term future of the human race must be in space,” Hawking tells Big Think. “It will be difficult enough to avoid disaster on planet Earth in the next hundred years, let alone the next thousand, or million. The human race shouldn’t have all its eggs in one basket, or on one planet. Let’s hope we can avoid dropping the basket until we have spread the load.”

Damn, to explore strange new worlds; to seek out new life and new civilizations; to boldly go where no man has gone before. Star Trek is gonna happen and I will be dead long before its realized. Life Sucks sometimes… but Hawking is right, once the Earth is used up, the logical step is to move out in to space before this happens. Damn where’s the Vulcans when you really need them.

So Blastr is reporting on the new Star Wars TV series thats been in development hell for like the last 5 years…. is on hold now due to the high production costs.. dammit Lucas WTF. First the Bluray’s of the original trilogy are taking for freakin’ ever…and now this.

The Force is not with you… there is no try…only do.

I have had Bioshock for the PS3 since February, and maybe played 15 minutes of it….and never touched it again till this past Saturday. Boy what a mistake that was. The game is fantastic, and its probably better that I did wait till now to play it as I was looking for something to do on a hot lazy Saturday afternoon…and this game is it. The atmospshere is creepy, and the soundtrack lends to lots of little hairs standing up on the back of my neck…good fun. You end up in an underwater city, and through communincations from someone inside..you make your way around Rapture (the city) fending off attacks from mutant like people, who were made crazy from abuse of plazmids, watching out for Big Brother and Little Sister ( a big dude in an old fashioned diving suit..and the little girl with glowing eyes he protects ). plazminds are injections that let you do different things..as you collect plazmids they power different things you can do. So far I have used electric shock that shoots out of your hand, another I used was ability to throw fire…and I just grabbed the ability to grab objects and throw throw them…a good thing to have when the splicer’s throw bombs at you.

With the oil spills, immigration, terrorism poverty etc. going on in this world. What do you think a bunch of Americans got together to protest yesterday.
